Music:

“The Ides of March (Et tu Brute)”

Is a song about betrayal from a trusted friend. The lyrics were inspired by William Shakespeare’s play adaptation of ‘Julius Caesar’. The music was inspired by theatrical classic rock artists such as: Queen, Meatloaf, Black Sabbath and Jethro Tull. Mark wanted very much to highlight the diverse talents of Tony Novarro’s guitar abilities. So the compositional structure and the production of the song were centered on Tony’s solos.

Mark Regula: Vocals, piano, synthesizer, acoustic guitars, drums, percussion.
Tony Novarro: Electric guitars.
Tyrone Johnson: Bass

Produced by: Tony Novarro & Mark Regula

Lyrics: “The Ides of March (Et tu Brute)”

It’s been so long my mind is really weary,
Been so long my life is really dreary.
And I’m waiting for a sign to come through;
So tell me what’s a man like me to do?
And I’m searching for a victory as I look out on the land,
I’ve faced so many tragedies, no one understands.

But The Ides of March is the time I will be free,
When I feel the wound and I meet my destiny.
And I thought that I’d have something more to say,
As my soul is laid to rest; Et tu Bruté? (Et tu Bruté)

An old woman came and gave to me a warning,
She saw in the stars an empire falling;
And for The Ides of March to beware;
But I didn’t want to know, I didn’t care…
So I trusted in the friends I had and I found out way too late,
That deep behind their smiling eyes, was jealousy and hate.

But The Ides of March is the time I will be free,
When I feel the wound and I meet my destiny.
And I thought that I’d have something more to say,
As my soul is laid to rest; Et tu Bruté? (Et tu Bruté)

(Guitar solo)

And I’m searching for a victory as I look out on the land,
I’ve seen so many tragedies, no one understands.

(Chorus)

Et tu Bruté? Then Caesar must fall…
